A Bevel Jig is used to hold a knife blade at a certain angle while grinding.

This helps with getting even, consistent blade bevels and is easier to learn than free-hand or push-stick grinding.

Made in stainless steel it will not rust from being dunked in water during grinding.

The blade is screwed into the steel clamp which is then put down onto a centre arm.

When the first side is ground, the clamp is flipped over to grind the other side.

Bevel Jig only, knife in photos is not included.

  • what is bevel jig?
A bevel jig is a tool used in knife making to assist in creating a consistent bevel angle on the blade of a knife.

A bevel is the angled surface on the blade of a knife that leads to the cutting edge. The bevel jig holds the blade at a set angle and allows the knife maker to grind or sharpen the bevel evenly and accurately.

This helps to ensure that the knife has a consistent and effective cutting edge. Some bevel jigs are adjustable, allowing the user to change the bevel angle to suit their specific needs. Others are designed for specific types of knives, such as kitchen knives or hunting knives, and have a fixed bevel angle. The use of a bevel jig can greatly improve the accuracy and consistency of the knife-making process, making it an essential tool for many knife makers.

A bevel angle is the angle at which the blade of a knife is ground or sharpened to create the cutting edge. Bevel angles can range from very steep to very shallow, depending on the intended use of the knife. Common bevel angles for kitchen knives, for example, may range from 15 to 30 degrees, while bevel angles for hunting knives may be much steeper, in the range of 25 to 50 degrees.
